On the 14th & 15th of May 2011 MILLS ON THE AIR takes place. Windmills and watermills are activated by radio clubs and societies to promote the hobby of radio and these fine and fast disserpering structures. The Bedford and District Amateur Radio Club will be at Bromham Mill,

Hi Folks,
we had a good time at Bromham Mill for Mills On The Air with a fair number of contacts; other mills, castles and individuals.
Many thanks for offers of and actual help from Preston g4mla, Bob m3dpq; Alan 2e0gld (who helped cutting and tuning antennas and putting up the kit), Glen g0gbi (who rushed back from his presentation in Derby, helped to put up the kit and did some operating) and John swl (who stayed during the whole process and helped to put everything away, as well as up). It got a bit chilly in the end.

Especial thanks go to Lorraine Daley of Bromham Mill for her kind hospitality and use of one of the outbuildings and facilities. Many thanks also to the gentleman who help to launch our guy ropes.

We were able to mention the mill and its work and wider purpose in the course of a number of conversations, on air and otherwise.

We also had visits form Ian 2e0, Steve m6sko and Bob m3dpq.

We have an invitation to repeat this and similar activities when there are more visitors about. I commend for your diaries:
