Youth Cricket

Wandgas CC is a local community club determined to introduce as many young people as possible to the great game of cricket and produce future senior cricketers for the club.

The club has a thriving youth cricket section which is run by a combination of parents and senior club players.

A Clubmark accredited club we will operate an U14 league teams in the 2015 season. Younger age groups will play friendly fixtures against local clubs as numbers permit.

In 2015 we are particularly keen to recruit new players from school age groups 2,3,4 & 5 to our summer coaching sessions every Thursday from 6.00p,m - 8.00pm. For really young players we will offer the option of a shorter coaching session at a reduced price.

Safety: As a Clubmark accredited club all our coaches are suitably qualified and all adults who in any way associated with youmg players are CRB checked. Our policies are listed and all parents are asked to complete an application confirming they are familiar with them. All policies and appropriate application forms are available under the documents section of this website.

Matches: We provide all necessary protective equipment for participating players. We only select players for matches once we are convinced it is safe for them. This is not just a question of technical ability but is much more about concentration and awareness of the risks on the field of play.

The cricket club makes every attempt to ensure that youth home matches are played on the main square at our ground. Where home clashes occur we will hire the best available square at a local ground.

Finance: Wandgas CC operate a pay as you play policy. Players will be charged £4.00 for each coaching session whether indoor net sessions or Thursday coaching nights. All matches cost £5.00 per player (home or away) at the ground. When a player starts to play regularly in matches we will ask a parent to join the main club at an annual cost of £30.00 for a family membership. The cricket club do not charge any annual subscription.

Registration: Every Thursday help is at hand at a registration area immediately in front of the club house and new players (and parents) will be guided through the process and welcomed to the club.
